Party

On the 13th December 2024 we headed to the Gornal British Legion for our annual Christmas Party and awards ceremony where we Celebrate the success of our students over the past year. With over 150 students over all our classes there was a lot to celebrate.

Raffle

As always I had the pleasure of selling our raffle tickets at the back of the hall during both parts of the party. We had some amazing prizes up for grabs including vouchers, bottles, chocolates and even a kick post, all donated by our students and their parents. Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to everyone who took part.

Food

This year we had food available to all from our burger van. Thanks to BuildABurga for feeding us all, you did an awesome job feeding us all. Feel free to check them out on Facebook, instagram or tiktok.

Santa & His Friend

Of course a Christmas party would not be complete with out a visit from the man in red. Santa was kind enough to take some time away from his workshop at the North Pole to grace us with his presence. Unfortunately he was followed by the Grinch.

Fortunately, thanks to the Karate we have been teaching them this year our students were able to stop the Grinch from stealing Christmas this year but whose to say he won’t try again next year!

Awards

Every Year we put together a selection of awards across a variety of categories for our students from our medals for up and coming students who haven’t been with us long all the way to our student of the year awards and many in between.

It’s a pleasure for both me and Lydia to give these out each year and a testament to our students of how they persist with their training every day. As Lydia said on the night this is what makes what we do worth it, seeing how our students work hard and grow every day.

A Nice Surprise For Our Sensei Lydia

This year was a little different as after the awards in the advanced class 2 of our students Amanda and Stacey presented Lydia with her own award for all the work that she does for each and every one of us.

It’s safe to say she did not expect this. Amanda did a good job summing up how we all feel about our Sensei but on a personal note I would like to add that it has been and honour to train under Lydia and to teach by her side for the past 12 years and I hope that we can continue for the next 12. She has single-handedly grown this club from 6 students in our first class to the nearly 200 we have today so thank you Lydia, keep being the inspiration you are to us all.

To finish of this post I would personally like to say thank you to everyone who makes this club what it is from the students and the parents that bring them every week to our junior coaches who help us run classes every day.
