The Bonsai Black Belt Academy is owned and run by Sensei Lydia Longville who is Chief Instructor at the club.
We are a full time Karate Dojo also offering Ladies only Fitness classes, Unisex Fitness classes and Weapons classes. We also allow other Martial Arts Instructors to teach their classes from our facility.
Chief Sensei Lydia has over 25 years experience in various Martial arts, and specialises in Sankukai Karate.
We ran our first ever Karate class on the 17th April 2012 from The Wordsley school gym hall. Starting with a small class of less then 10 students, most of whom had never done any martial arts before, we were be to build up to just under 20 students over 3 classes a week. we saw a few students also come from different clubs to train with us, some even making it to black belt.
We then ran classes from a Church hall in Wordsley from 2013 where we were able to offer more classes a week, going up to 4 at one point. with more higher grades we were splitting the hallin 2 with a line of cone to offer a begginers and an advnced class.
During our time at the curch hall we held a 5 year aniversery party there and a couple of in house competitions to encourage the student to do there best and to work hard.
During our time at the Church hall we began runnig a ladies own fitness and self defence class as well as a weapons class.
On the 29th July 2019 we ran our first class from our Dojo in Kingswinford with 28 students on the books for karate and nearly 15 doing the ladies fitness class. From there we have grown to nearly 200 active members over all classes.
when we opened our own club we were able to offer more classes on more days giveing our student more opportunities to train when they want and how they want.
A lot of work went into turning the building we’re in now from an industrial unit used for storage to the fully equipped dojo we have now.
Our current Dojo is located in Kingswinford in the West Midlands where we offer classes to students of all ages.
Having our own Dojo allowed us to star running our Bonsai Bears classes aimed at teaching the basics to 4-6 yer olds. We were also able to offer a fitness class to all that wish to train it along with offering out our dojo to other instructors to run their own classes from.
Our own dojo has alowe us to put on events for our students including movie nights and birthday parties for our students.
With Our own dojo we are able to have more equipment for our students to use making their training more well rounded.

At the Bonsai Black Belt Academy we are all a family. We work hard together and enjoy our time training. We have laughes and we have tears but we are always there for each other and will always be there to pick each other up.
