New Equipment for Students and Parents

New Equipment for Students and Parents

Over the past couple of weeks the dojo has received some new improvements to help our students train and also to keep those that stay and watch nice and warm in these winter months.

We Have Heat

Sensei Lydia has reinvested money back into the club to help make our time training more comfortable even during the cold days. With these new heaters keeping the mat nice and toasty for all at the dojo, training has never been more pleasant.

A “Few” New Posts

When Lydia told me she was planning to get a few new posts to make training with them easier I was honestly expecting only 2 or 3. Imagine my surprise when I turn up early for the grading on Sunday to see 9 new posts to go along with the 10 we already had. Cue me looking around the dojo trying to figure out where we were going to put them all. After sorting out storage for these post and getting them filled up I thought that would be it for a while…

Until I walked in not 2 days later to see 4 more posts that weren’t there Sunday.

For those of you trying to do the maths we now 13 new posts for a total of 23 for our students to use including the USA exclusive full white posts.

All the post are made by Century, one of the best in the industry and you can tell by the amount of abuse they can take. For example the red and black posts pictured above are over 1 year old and show very little sign of use.

Along with these tall bags we also have more of our smaller bags including some new shaped ones with numbers that will be ideal for our younger students. And if you can see it in the first picture we also have a limited edition yellow and black Bruce Lee post hiding in the corner between the 2 smaller red posts.

We also have a new type of post. These Versys bags are weighed down by a sand base which provides enough support to hold them up but allows the bags to rock and move as they are hit. These will help our students get used to hitting a moving target and help with their reflexes.

After all these posts and heaters our dojo is starting to get so kitted out that I’m worried we will run out of space for more but I’m sure Lydia will find space. After all she’s already told me she wants to replace the hanging bags next.

A Quick Word From Me

All joking aside its great to see so much new equipment in our dojo. I still remember the days when we started out at the Wordsley school hall with just a couple of Lydia’s old bags and a pair of gloves to share between the class. Its a vast difference to now where we can offer great classes in a well kitted out dojo.

Use this new equipment guys and keep training hard towards your next belts.
